Our Story

About Walk-In Tub Contractor Grand Rapids

A locally owned walk-in tub installer, built from one bathroom retrofit.

Ray Vanderveen ran a general contracting business in Kent County for 15 years — kitchens, basements, room additions — before his grandmother moved in with his family after a stroke left her with one-sided weakness. His own bathroom wasn't built for someone relearning how to balance, so he retrofitted it himself: lower threshold, grab bars in the right spots, a bench she could actually use. Watching how much that one room changed her independence — and noticing how few local contractors specialized in this kind of work — is what led him to stop taking general remodeling jobs and build a company around exactly two services: walk-in tub installation and walk-in shower conversion.

That origin still shapes how every job is handled. We start with a free in-home visit instead of a phone quote, because a bathroom in an older Eastown bungalow needs a different plan than a newer Cascade Township home, and there's no way to know that without actually seeing it.
